FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are attached to natural lashes using a semi-permanent glue to lengthen and add volume to the appearance of one’s lashes.

Is the eyelash extension application process painful?

The application of eyelash extensions should not cause pain but you may experience a slight stinging sensation and your eyes may water caused by exposure to the glue fumes. This is mild and should not cause any major discomfort during or after the procedure.

How are the eyelash extensions applied?

They are applied using professional tools by isolating one natural lash at a time and attaching one eyelash extension per natural lash for Classic lashes or one lash extension fan per natural lash for Russian Volume lashes. An under eye gel pad may also be applied to cover your lower lashes.

How safe are eyelash extensions?

As the materials used are high quality and specially made for use near the eye area, it is quite a safe procedure. The adhesive is also applied to the natural lashes and not the skin so it is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.

How long does the application take?

The application can take from an hour to two hours for a new full set of eyelash extensions. Infill appointments generally take from 45 minutes to an hour.

Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to eyelash extensions?

Although it is rare, it is possible to have an allergic reaction to the gel pads or the adhesive used to apply the extensions. If you have sensitive skin or eyes, we would recommend booking in for a patch test before getting a full set of extensions.

Do eyelash extensions appear fake?

As the length and curl of the eyelash extension sets can be adjusted to suit your preferences and eye shape, the eyelash extensions can appear more natural or noticeable depending on the look you choose.

How long do eyelash extensions last for?

Eyelash extensions generally last as long as your natural lashes which is around four to six weeks. Factors such as your lifestyle, facial cleansing routine, skin type and average lash growth cycle and type of makeup products you use can also affect the longevity of the lashes. It is normal to lose two to five natural lashes everyday so we recommend coming in for infills every two to three weeks to maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions. After four weeks, a new set of extensions is usually required as there will be no eyelash extensions remaining for us to infill.

Do eyelash extensions damage the natural lashes?

When applied correctly by an experienced lash technician, your natural lashes should not be damaged as the health of your natural lashes is of the utmost importance if you wish to continue getting eyelash extensions. However, improper application of eyelash extensions by an unqualified lash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes as there are often cases where too much adhesive has been used or they have chosen extensions that are too long or heavy.

Can mascara be worn with eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend wearing mascara with eyelash extensions as it can cause the extensions and your natural lashes to clump together. When the glue eventually deteriorates and the extensions fall off, it can pull off your natural lashes as well. If you would like to wear mascara for a special event, we recommend only applying it at the tips and removing it completely afterwards using a water-based makeup remover.

Can makeup be worn with eyelash extensions?

It is fine to wear makeup with eyelash extensions but please ensure that you remove the makeup completely otherwise the buildup of oil and dirt will cause the lash extensions to fall out quicker. If you wear makeup regularly, it is recommended to use a daily lash cleanser along with oil-less makeup remover in order to remove the residue.

How often are infill appointments necessary?

We recommend coming in for infills even two to three weeks to maintain maximum fullness but we can do infills up until four weeks of your last appointment. If all the eyelash extensions have fallen out, a new set will be required.

Should eyelash curlers be used with the eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend using eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as this can damage both your eyelash extensions and your natural lashes. If you would like to adjust the curl to make it more noticeable or to make it more natural, please notify us at your next appointment.

Is it possible to shower, swim, exercise or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Yes, it is possible as the adhesive we use is waterproof. Swimming or exercising regularly or exposing the lashes to heat and moisture can cause the extensions to fall out quicker as the strong movements and sweat can break down the glue more quickly.

Is it possible for extensions to fall out a few days after the appointment?

As you lose up to 2-5 natural lashes everyday due to your natural growth cycle, it is possible for a couple of your eyelash extensions to fall out the day after your appointment if they are attached to the oldest natural lashes that have just grown out.

Is it possible to get a lash lift with the lash extensions?

Generally we recommend choosing one or the either depending on the end result you want. It can often be more difficult to apply eyelash extensions to natural lashes after they have been permed due to its curliness. We would only recommend getting a lash lift if your lashes are pointing inwards but if they are only straight and pointing downwards, it is still possible to apply eyelash extensions normally.

What is the difference between silk and mink lashes?

The Classic eyelash extensions come in two synthetic materials: silk and mink. Both come in a variety of lengths and curls but the mink extensions are slightly softer, lighter and looks more natural whilst the silk extensions are slightly darker and heavier.

What is the difference between single and volume lashes?

Single lash extensions, otherwise known as Classic lashes, are applied one per natural lash and come in 0.15mm and 0.18mm thickness and in two different synthetic materials: silk and mink. Russian Volume lash extensions can go from two to six lashes per natural lash and are fanned out by hand before being applied. It is available in 0.05mm and 0.07mm thickness so it is a lot lighter and finer than single lashes.

What is the difference between a half set and a full set of lashes?

A half set is applied from the middle of the eye to the outer corner only to add very subtle and natural wing to your eye. A full set is applied across the whole eye and the fullness of the eyelash extensions depends on which lash set you choose.
